Shardul Thakur Discusses Pressure and Team Dynamics
New Delhi [India] April 20: After the Lucknow Super Giants secured a nail-biting victory over the Rajasthan Royals in the IPL, seamer Shardul Thakur shared insights on the intense pressure he experienced while bowling and emphasized the significance of positioning for successful catches.
Thakur commended Avesh Khan for his impressive bowling and acknowledged Prince Yadav's crucial contributions during the 19th over.
During the post-match presentation, Shardul Thakur remarked, “It’s never easy during high-pressure moments. I attempted to run him out, but it didn’t work out, and then I managed to take the catch on the next ball. I was likely positioned correctly, which is vital for such moments. We are well aware of Avesh’s skills, and Prince also deserves credit for his performance in the 19th over. He can easily surprise the batsman with his pace, as we witnessed today and in the first match in Vizag.”
Thakur expressed his satisfaction in being part of LSG and praised the coaches and management for their emphasis on process over results, which has been instrumental in their success in tight matches.
“I’m very pleased to be part of this team. The coaches and management have focused on the process and encouraged us not to stress about the outcomes. Out of the four close games, we’ve managed to win three. The management deserves credit for ensuring we are well-supported both on and off the field, which has helped us navigate challenging situations,” he added.
Avesh Khan's remarkable final over performance was pivotal in helping Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) withstand aggressive batting from Yashasvi Jaiswal, Vaibhav Suryavanshi, and stand-in captain Riyan Parag, as Rajasthan Royals (RR) fell short by just two runs at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium on Saturday.
Avesh claimed three wickets while defending nine runs in the last over, leading LSG to a narrow victory with a total of 181 runs against Rajasthan's 178. His exceptional bowling earned him the 'Player of the Match' accolade.
In the current league standings, RR occupies the eighth position with two wins and six losses, while LSG is in fourth place with five wins and three losses.
